We recently had a game-breaking issue with the crank handle in Lost City that required replacement.
The following day's crew did not fully receive the information and believed the room was still playable, which could have resulted in a poor guest experience.
I would like to propose two additions to the maintenance ticket system for issues marked as Game Breaking.
When a Game-Breaking maintenance ticket is created, a popup would ask:
"Would you like to block open booking slots for this game?"
The employee could select a duration, up to 72 hours.
This would immediately prevent new reservations from being made while the issue is being repaired without requiring someone to separately update the schedule.
While a Game-Breaking ticket remains active, staff attempting to host a game should receive a popup displaying the maintenance issue and be required to acknowledge it.
This is especially important when reservations were already booked before the problem occurred. Those games may still need to be run, but the staff coming onto the next shift would immediately know about the issue and could prepare accordingly.
Once the maintenance ticket is marked resolved, the warning would disappear and any remaining blocked availability could automatically reopen.
The goal is to prevent a maintenance issue from becoming a guest-service issue simply because information did not make it from one shift to the next.
